Please Fix Annoying "Video Automatically Playing" Problem
UndertowMemories on 6/23/2017
Problem: The app automatically opens and switches to the YouTube application and plays the video when user scrolls to a position where there is a video. The above problem mostly happens in the following scenario: When user clicks on a section expecting to read the article related to that topic, the app suddenly switches to the YouTube application and plays the video in that section. Not expecting this, the user has to close YouTube application and open up the Google Culture app again. Then, when user scroll down the article, the app suddenly switches to the YouTube application and plays the video in that section because user has scrolled to a position where there is a video. Not expecting this, the user has to close the YouTube application and open up the Google Culture app again. …. Conclusion: It is a bad user experience since most of time, user may not want to play the video and to be forced to switch to other app and have to manually switch back. Suggestion: (1) Give user the control whether they want to play the video or not instead of automatically switching the app and forcing user to watch the video (2) Enable user to play the video inside the App to give user a more smooth user experience
Great App hampered by wonky interface on iPad.
UnusualOddity on 5/31/2017
On iPad, the back button only goes back one screen. So, if you are in a particular museum collection and decide to zoom in on an individual work, zooming out all the way or hitting the back button will only take you back to the item information screen, not the museum collection screen. You have to go to the home screen, then go back into the museum collection to pick up where you left off. Can this please be fixed?
Could be easily a lot better
Zaazou16 on 4/25/2017
They could add landscape and hide the bar on top when viewing the image and swipe between images easier.
Could be incredible
LoydC91362 on 4/23/2017
But it can't rotate images to landscape orientation to make full use of the screen. So most paintings are viewed at a fraction of the size of the screen, which is a waste for such beautiful high-res images.
Good on the iPad, but...
Bill H in Delaware on 4/20/2017
It would be amazing if it just alloweed rotation to a landscape view!
Awesome app
Galfaya on 4/19/2017
I love this app I got into this app by class and I were going to sagamore hill and my teacher told us to use the virtual reality for the house and then I started to like it and then I went to the App Store and got this its awesome
Absolutely amazing
Jgreen2310 on 4/3/2017
I, as an artist, love this app so much. It's like a candy store if information and it's endless. Google has blown me away with this one. And it makes sense because Google is pretty much the world's encyclopedia. When viewing the artist tab and tapping the back button, it tends to reset to the top of the page, losing the place where you were previously and makes locating your artist or moving forward from your place, a bit difficult. It would also be great to have a favorite button for each artist. Great great app nonetheless.
Very enjoyable
Anna Vashka on 3/17/2017
I really like being able to delve into art I likely would not otherwise see. The feature to zoom into art and see the fine details is especially interesting and allows for close up appreciation of the work. Very nice app and content! A couple of refinements would make the app experience better: 1. After zooming in and moving around an art piece, the top bar with the back arrow pops down. This is a very distracting amount of motion because it happens each time an adjustment is made. It would be nice to be able to hide this. 2. The back arrow seems to only go back to home, not to where I was previously. This makes navigation a little tedious. Another form of navigation will be helpful.
No landscape on iPad
AndrewKokai on 3/16/2017
No landscape mode on iPad, basically makes this beautiful app Useless.
Fantastic content.. a few small bugs
TarHeelBred04 on 3/15/2017
This app has a deep well of interesting content which is constantly refreshed. I would give this 5 stars if a bug is resolved. When zooming and looking at images in detail, it is impossible to go "back" to the previous page or article. I am forced to go back to the home screen and begin navigating again.
Thank you
JamesDeNeil on 3/14/2017
This app offers a lot of useful resources for people who want to study drawing and sculpture. Very useful and educational.
Landscape mode please!
Marioman1985 on 3/8/2017
The content of this app is amazing. I just wish I could view it in landscape.
Back bottom is broken. It jumps to the main page.
Whitethunder79 on 2/18/2017
Back bottom is broken. It jumps to the main page.
Perfect for Studying
Future Museum Archivist on 2/8/2017
This is my favorite app of all time. It's a shame that it hasn't gained much popularity since its launch. Amit Sood is a genius.
Love this app!
eskimobarbee on 1/27/2017
Beautiful app to browse artwork and to learn about artists and their work.
No BACK button?
Webwhiz22 on 12/24/2016
Great app, but how do you return to the previous page without a 'Back' button?
This is the best app ever
Also on coolmath.com on 12/14/2016
My only question is how when you zoom in their is so much detail anyways this is great -NL
Another Google Failure.
Mb5001 on 12/13/2016
Claims it's an app for iPad, but only displays in portrait. Shame. It looked like it had interesting content. Download, open, delete.
Frustrating
Sniper 628 on 11/20/2016
I may be using this app wrong but I thought you were supposed to move. Also I don't have the cardboard box that they call for 😡😤
Good app but ..
Paperxxl on 11/6/2016
is a good app, but some times the app give legs out this, is amazing.
Frustrating
iCaliT on 11/6/2016
The content of this app is good, but maneuvering around is frustrating. For example, I choose to browse the category Art Movements. While perusing, I see a work I like (thumbnails are arranged in a grid) and tap it. When I'm ready to go back to where I started, I have exit the category, find the movement again, go through pages of grids until I find the place I left off. I mean, really?
A wonderful app
blueswanderer on 10/29/2016
What a great way to decompress: by perusing some of the world's best art and culture. A few nits: support for the iPad Pro is clunky (please add landscape mode!) and there are some scrolling jitters when zooming around an image. Also: the app should ditch the annoying menu bar that appears when you're zoomed into an image.
VR doesn't work
Julliooos on 10/29/2016
It's a nice app but the VR doesn't work at all you're just stuck on a black screen and that's it. Please fix Google
The stuff of science fiction
Elledeez on 10/3/2016
It's incredible we live in a time when this much information can be this accessible
Good, not yet ready for prime time
dougfromhere on 9/26/2016
Lots of places to see and videos to watch. But not everything works when you tap on a site.
ESSENTIAL APPS
Sa1N on 9/14/2016
ESSENTIAL Now add all the exhibits available in NYC. Add a favorites feature to save paintings. So I can delete all the other art apps I got downloaded.
super
Manul25 on 9/14/2016
very great app, always Google doing excellent things... me encanta se la recomiendo
It needs a lot of fixes
JakeSpeaks2 on 9/7/2016
It lags out and it makes me 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Very good... Not perfect
Douglas Francis on 9/3/2016
Like everyone else has said it needs a landscape mode. But something I haven't seen yet said, and something I want very badly, is a favorite artist section. I'm happy for the favorite section for each individual piece of art but I just want one for artists too.
Ok, but doesn't work in landscape mode on iPad
LRLee on 8/29/2016
Seems to work only in portrait mode on iPad Pro
Great initiative but not yet ready
burgundywine on 8/29/2016
This is a great initiative from Google and obviously an enormous amount of effort has gone into forming partnerships with museums around the world. However the app is not yet ready for the Apple ecosystem. There are numerous bugs, for example the search button does not work and in map view, touching a museum does not bring it up. The web version is much better at the moment. I will try again in six months.
Great content, poor app
Gaberber on 8/26/2016
No doubt the contents are wonderful, but this app is little more than a web browser, and a bad one at that—not even a "back" button on some pages! Only way to get back is go to the front page and click your way back.
A true app for appreciation of the arts
Jahmen on 8/24/2016
Righteous!!!!!
Worth a look but has one issue
Philranger13 on 8/6/2016
This is a wonderful app for art. I truly hope Google continues developing it and adding more HD and 4K images. The only issue I have at this time is that there is not a landscape format for iPad. I have an iPad Pro and the images are stunning yet can not be use in the landscape format. This needs an adjustment. *** The new update unfortunately still does not work in landscape with my iPad Pro, even with deleting the app and reinstalling. I am however glad to see that Google is looking into the issue and I will continue to look for updates.
Still landscape problem on iPad
Midcentury Mod on 8/6/2016
8/4/2016 release supposedly provides iPad landscape display. Only portrait on my iPad Air. Disappointing.
No cardboard?
TheKitsuneKit on 8/2/2016
I must be missing something and please correct me if I'm wrong. I got this app because I was told you could explore museums with Google cardboard, but that doesn't seem to be the situation. Is there something I am missing? That said, it is nice that Google is trying to preserve arts and culture like this. Kudos.
Cool app!
Joyflute on 7/29/2016
Great app with interesting content! The closeups of famous paintings are amazing! I took off one star because it really needs to work in landscape plus the back button is missing from many articles.
back button?
youngb3 on 7/26/2016
if you do a search and then click on an image there's no way to get back to your search, you have to start it all over. deal breaker.
Love it
Biscuitcat123 on 7/25/2016
Haven't had any problems and enjoy the app.
Does not work
irishbmf on 7/23/2016
Takes you to Internet and errors out! Deleted it.
Just doesn't work
Nallimbia on 7/21/2016
After opening to the main page of the app and pressing on the first four articles to find not a single one leads anywhere except to an error message dead end. Seems like a bit more work was needed before this app was introduced.
Really Disappointing
AlanHughes on 7/21/2016
Really disappointing. The website is nice, but if you're on a tablet it just doesn't function. So I reluctantly installed the app, but all it is is a bunch of links to the website (which as I just mentioned, doesn't function on mobile devices) and the app can't even properly link to the website, it just sends you to error pages. It's very hard to understand how a company as large and supposedly advanced as Google can constantly screw up so many basic things like this. If you have a laptop or even better, a desktop computer, the content is pretty great.
Great App
justmejl on 7/20/2016
Just went thru History of Space and found it so interesting. Had no problem getting into the app on my first try. Highly recommend.
Beautiful Design
Seacoresun on 7/20/2016
I love this app because it is so well designed compared to other apps I've used. Good job Google!
Unique, yet underpromoted?
rokrokroko on 7/12/2016
Stellar app. Just don't understand why it doesn't feature the Google brand more prominently (name, logo colors). That would surely raise its profile and prevent it from being hidden at the bottom of the "also by Google" pile. The app itself is tremendous!
BACK BUTTON!
kavya11 on 6/13/2016
How about adding a BACK BUTTON so that users, you know can actually go back in their navigation. Please stick to the iOS design guidelines where Back button is part of navigation. You practically made this app unusable by not having a back button. I hope someone is reading this and spend 10 minutes to put a BACK BUTTON!!!!
Great app with some problems and cashs
Micado ronaldo on 6/8/2016
To be honest it's spectacular app with great design and very organized, but all apps have problems and this have too, like you can't save it for later or some crash when you want to back to recently page or sth, at all its a great and best app I've ever seen and thanks google for this
Nice app
Ogolgama on 6/4/2016
Nice app. Get rid of the drop down box when zooming in on the art. It's distracting.
Wow
Edmonam82 on 5/31/2016
I love Google projects! And this one is very important for the whole world!
This is unreal
