Grammarly is great on a laptop when you only need to provide your email. However, I had the same problem as many it others regarding my personal information.
Who is this for?
NorCalSaint on 8/18/2018
Writing / English are not my strong point but I feel that this app is targeting someone who speaks very little English. Not at all what I expected & a very intrusive app...
Brutal getting used to.
Donato34 on 8/16/2018
Let's try this. I'm going to type kit this review to show uoj just how difficult it is to use this product. I've been using this keyboard for about a month. It's been frustrating to use, and I had hoped it would learn and improve. Unfortunately, I've been left with the conclusion that this makes typing on an iPhone more difficult than the default iPhone keyboard. That should say a lot. The most straightforward corrections such as uoj > you should not be something I have to manually correct. Even when j do manually correct a name or place, the keyboard doesn't seem to understand that I've edited that word 50 times to make it spelled that particular way. I know that this type of product is severe, but at this time I can't a say that this product helps in any way shape or form.
About it
Lok Bandhu on 8/16/2018
I am trying to understand about this grammarly keyboard before and now, but did not found any more options as it says.
Barry10or2 on 8/15/2018
I downloaded this thinking it was a good tool. It came up as an advert in a game I was using. Once I’d downloaded it, a user agreement came up. As I’d never seen one of these for an app I was using, I read it. By agreeing to use the app, you agree to the developers having total access to any program that you use it in, including your entire email, notes, and messages files. Basically EVERYTHING! DO NOT download this app if you want to keep your personal files personal. Also, I’ve tried to purge this from all my machines, but once you have downloaded an app, you can never get rid of it from your purchase history. It stays in your iCloud, and I now get the ad, as before, but it now asks me to open the app. VERY annoying! I truly wish I’d never downloaded this!
How to use with Apple Smart Keyboard

How do I make it work when using an external keyboard?
2 stars is generous

Works like a normal keyboard. Nothing special.

It helps correct how words are used and help correct words.
Lots Of Issues
transformerskyd on 8/14/2018
Grammarly has to many issues like it says it’s checking the text field but I’m waiting for it to load for about 5 minutes and it never loads. Also it does not change the word if I spelt it wrong when I try to fix it.
Why I rate this 1 Star
Mpesio on 8/14/2018
I wish I could rate this company and its app 0 star. Beware they charge you annual fee instead of monthly I recently found out they had their annual fee in small letters. SMH.

I am sincerely grateful to the preceding review in great detail. It told me precisely what I needed to know (requiring confidential info in yet another site; and how it works with some interruption to spelling check). In having to get a upgraded new phone instead of a fixed iPhone 3S option request. The Iphone SE spelling correction turned out dismally poor. (I found it so consistently worse--with bad substitutions, that I’m looking at other cell phone options.) So thank you, unknown reviewer—for saving me valuable time now, as I delete Grammarly.

was not up as a keyboard. had it on my macbook andloved it. i hate the iphone worthless spell check amd predictive text . really wish this would work.
Just decent gets the job done.
U-Threads on 8/10/2018
It's pretty decent for helping you with writing, but sometimes it glitches when scanning all of the words. Don't like how it needs all of my access to actually work, but I can easily get over that. Overall, it's a 3.5 out of 5. I definitely prefer the desktop version over the app though.

I love Grammarly so much, it even helped me write this review with no errors.
Chris Carlyle on 8/10/2018
This thing is great, but it doesn't really correct bad grammar it auto corrects misspelled word. For example, phrases like fall by the wasteside won't be autocorrected to fall by the WAYSIDE or lost for words won't be changed to LOSS for words.
A Must For Writers!
Blu )0( on 8/9/2018
I truly love this app! It helps when you are typing up a letter, text, or even part of your story.
I had to delete it
StephKris0921 on 8/8/2018
The app changes the keyboard on your phone and it’s different from the normal iPhone keyboard. The period was in a terrible place and I would accidentally hit it constantly.
Full access?!

No way!
This apps doesn’t correct what I type
Fart nart on 8/6/2018
So I was using this app to help me not sound like an idiot on accident by saying stuff that doesn’t have grammar, so I used it and then I started wondering is this actually doing anything so I typed “I, like foods” because that doesn’t have any proper grammar so I pressed the correct button and it said that there where no problems I don’t recommend
Language support

I need Arabic language support I can't use English only
It’s great for me
24k google on 8/3/2018
Some people say it’s annoying for texting which ye it is which is why you don’t have to use it. For me though my grammar is really bad and I like to write. It’s not a good combo. When ever I write something I sound very uneducated. Grammarly was great because I would type a long thing up on the regular keyboard land then switch to the grammarly keyboard and pressed the big green G that scans Theo whole page of text and shows you all the mistakes you’ve missed. So definitely get this!
No. No. No. to the keyboard’s aesthetic
Joe Maciel on 8/3/2018
The keyboard is overwhelmingly bright. Cannot effectively use the app enough to give this a more thorough rating. There are bugs in backspacing and autocorrection which are not clean.
Total waste of money.
sparre1 on 8/2/2018
This app is so intrusive and annoying that I deleted it after about a month. I was just charged $140.00 for another year, and there is no way to contact them to cancel.
Not smooth
AtomBombic on 8/2/2018
This app does not smoothly communicate anything for you. It cleans up punctuation which is why I’ll give it a 2 star but it does not learn words or adapt to your style smoothly at all. It’s a hassle and I’ll live without it.
Could use a little fixing
Good App, Bad Bug. on 8/1/2018
I would give this app five stars if it did two things that it doesn’t (or if it at least did them better) This app barely fixes comma mistakes. I decided to test the app so I purposely put a comma in a random place that a 5th grader should be able to figure out that it shouldn’t be there. The app TOTALY ignored the illy placed comma. Which makes me rage... one of the main reasons I got this app is because I struggle sometimes to know where and where not to put commas. Second, when I click the green button to correct everything it will only let me fix two things at a time. Which also drives me crazy! If I’m trying to edit something really long it takes forever. If you could just fix these two things I would love this app! (I’ve even talked it over with a friend I have who has this same app. She says she doesn’t have these problems. So I’m not sure what to do. I even deleted it and downloaded it again to see if that would fix my issues. It didn't.)
Bunch44 on 8/1/2018
The app does correct my mistakes but it interferes with the autocorrect feature. I have to turn Grammarly off unless I need it. I would like to leave it on all the time.
OsanaTheOnly on 8/1/2018
Thx for teaching me how to use the right grammar 😂👍
Not the best
Nerby27 on 7/31/2018
This app doesn’t do any of the stuff that it says it does in the add. It doesn’t really know the difference between there and their and they’re etc. And not to mention they can log and access pretty much all your personal info

It does not correct known of my incorrect sentences. Me: Jeffery was running down the street and saw Amanda. Grammarly: Jeffery was running down the road and seen Amanda.
jojolynnj on 7/31/2018
People focus on typing quickly or just being to lazy to type correctly. This truly beautiful app will help those who lack in proper grammar. Laziness will not get you a good education or career. Thank you. 🤩
Great but has one flaw
Mamablackbean on 7/30/2018
Love when it fixes actual mistakes cause I'm terrible at typing but, whenever I try to write using text slang it corrects to another word no matter how many times I write it. I just have to disable it and trey again, which is really annoying. Wish it would let me say ttyl or lol without auto-correcting it multiple times.
App review

I love this app because it can be a great tool for college essays, etc.
Please make an iOS app
lorenzoten on 7/30/2018
Please just make an ipad /iphone app. I blame Apple mostly for this but I hate that pop-up for full access. Just make an iOS app. And in the meantime, allow safari on iPad to access on Mac. Please.
Privacy vs grammar
longtimefriend on 7/30/2018
It appears that the iOS version of Grammarly requires that you install the Grammarly keyboard. The Grammarly keyboard gives developers ACCESS TO EVERYTHING on your device. Let that sink in. Everything. Not just the text you want help with. Everything. And why should I give developers access to everything? Oh, I get it, so they can help me. Sure, that must be it. Even this review could benefit from using Grammarly, but will I do it. Never. Ever. It is pure evil to expect people to turn over all things private in exchange for identifying a misplaced comma.
Great help

App has potential but falls short
katencheyenne on 7/28/2018
I downloaded this app after the Ginger app disappeared (I’m still heartbroken about it bc that was hands down the best proofreading app) and was thoroughly disappointed. First it asks for keyboard access—okay fine. But then it tells you that in order to access the keyboard you have to allow them to read and store every single thing you type on your phone including passwords and bank and credit card information. That’s a huge NOPE from me. I’m sorry but I know what happens to that information. It’s not just something you have to allow for the sake of it being “more accurate” like they claim. So many apps that access everything you type sell that information to third party sellers and get a hefty price for it and I have a hard time believing Grammarly is any different because there’s absolutely no reason they need to read and store every single thing you type on your phone. SO I decided to go ahead and allow access long enough to check out the app so I could give a legitimate review of the way the app works outside of the ridiculous privacy violation. I was disappointed in the fact that it works as a type of autocorrect while you’re typing instead of being able to copy and paste your text to check for errors. I’m sure they thought the autocorrect idea was a good one but it actually just ended up being very annoying and inaccurate. First of all, the “autocorrect” function totally screws up the normal iPhone autocorrect. It makes it to where your phone doesn’t actually correct mistakes and typos automatically and you have to actually click the Grammarly button on the keyboard to get it to tell you all of your mistakes. So that ends up being really annoying and inconvenient because most iPhone users are used to typing fast and allowing autocorrect to fix any typos as they go. This makes that impossible and then the app has to try to guess what you meant and unfortunately they’re not very good at it. It tried to correct things that were not incorrect to begin with, and couldn’t figure out several of the typos so I had to go back and fix them myself. If I have to go through and correct the mistakes that the proofreading system makes then that entirely defeats the purpose of using the proofreading system to begin with. Honestly this app has a lot of potential but it has tons of issues currently. Better to stick to CorrectMe until Ginger comes back (if it does).

I really tried to work with the keyboard but the whole data thing is not good for any user. Also if u have more than one language on ur keyboard option and then you have to add Grammarl’s keyboard

DO NOT GET THIS APP THEY WILL SCAM YOU AND YOU WILL GO UNDER MONEY FRAUD!

I’m so disappointed pointed in the grammarly app and the developer needing full access to what I type to use the full functionality of the app. I know this is common practice but I’m also starting to realize apple supports this type of piracy and is a witting accomplice in this unnecessary trend. If apple truly cared about my privacy they would ensure developers didn’t place you in a compromising position for using apps that would truly help improve certain aspects of your life without the need the need to know what I’m typing, bank account numbers and all manner of critical information that doesn’t make the app perform better. I’m ashamed of both the developer of grammarly and apple for supporting this type of behavior.
It’s great, but I still can’t use it yet.
Jamesdusoleil on 7/25/2018
I do a lot of my writing on my iPad with a Smart Keyboard. So for now the app is pretty useless to me on my iPad. However, I use it on my iPhone and it does pretty good. The letters lag a little bit, and you can’t use 3D Touch to move the cursor to different lines. Only horizontally. Please make available to use for keyboards!!!!!
Very slow and sluggish
Strugglebrother on 7/24/2018
Even though I love Grammarly and use it on Chrome and my desktop It doesn’t work that well on my iPhone. Inputting text is very slow and words get missed as you type.. This might be due to Apple but problem still persists when using Grammarly as a keyboard when typing. Hope to see improvement and be able to revise the review.
