Doesn’t cost much time
Tích Mi on 5/23/2018
I mean, the stamina is sooooo little that it takes less than 5 mins each time I play, then I wait. Don’t make this your main game of the day, the stamina and time to wait after quest will make you rampaged. Otherwise, it’s a good game considered its story.
LOVE this game.
Jadelove726 on 5/23/2018
I absolutely love this game. I’m am addicted to it. That’s why I am now upset my journey has ended so close to the end of year 3. Why would you just cut me off like that? I am upset about it. Why would you not finish the game in its entirety before releasing it? How long til more mysteries are available because I’m getting anxious.

Good but could be better
Hnkchambers on 5/23/2018
As a Harry Potter but I was so happy to find this game. Bare in mind I’m not one to rate and review apps, but figured maybe it might be read. I have waited a long time for a game like this, and it’s major down fall is I’m still always waiting. The game is the type where you do things and it costs energy typical phone type game. My complaint is it takes so much energy to learn new spells or potions. Which I can live with, what bugs me is there should be a way to watch ads to refill energy. Also I wish there where more side games something to do in the mean time while you wait, all in all the game is fun, and the story is original which I also enjoy. But I think my suggestions would take this game to another level.
Fix the crashing
hate greed on 5/23/2018
Game keeps crashing. Now it won’t even let me log on. It’s an alright game, if it works.
Fun idea, terrible flaw
Taya_Rida on 5/23/2018
Let me say this now: the game is actually pretty interesting. My character has a good backstory; and the narrative is pretty engaging. Plus it hits the nostalgia factor. It’s biggest weakness is the energy system, where if you run out of energy (which runs out fast since you have to use it during missions, classes, or even talking to friends), you either have to wait for it to recharge or pay to get more faster. I would’ve preferred for the game to have me pay upfront instead of this nonsense.
Can’t do transfigurations without failing!
Chocopie3467899 on 5/23/2018
Every time I try to do the transfiguration tracing thing (or for any other newer spell) it automatically fails me because of some glitch. It’s super annoying. It’s detecting my finger movement but for some reason it’s not actually tracing 🙄 so I never pass that part!
Could be much better
chanellponce on 5/23/2018
I enjoy this game but there’s SO many things that can be better. First of all, LET ME USE MY OWN NAME!! Why are we not able to use our own names? Secondly, energy is way too little and the ridiculous amount of gold and diamonds needed to buy clothes, etc. is just annoying and really ridiculous. Please look into these things.
A true experience!
BabyGirlSmith95 on 5/22/2018
I downloaded the game on the day it was released and I have played it every day since! I really enjoy it and it’s quite interesting! The only thing I would say that’s not the greatest is waiting for the energy to replenish. I’m not trying to spend real money on this game. But if you’re willing to wait some time for more energy the game is totally worth playing! Everything you do in it is of your own making, you make a decision and you never know for sure where the decision might lead you! If you love Harry Potter you’ll love this game, it gives you the opportunity to go to Hogworts and be a real wizard or witch. You get your wand, you choose your house, and you make friends with famous characters from the books! It’s pretty awesome! I’m currently a year 3 student and I look forward to seeing where the journey takes me!
Add a pay for unlimited energy option
Magesterial on 5/22/2018
Impossible to enjoy this game because it requires energy for literally everything and you can’t get enough gems to get enough energy without paying way more than ANY game costs. This is free to play but I’d gladly pay $10 or whatever for the full game with unlimited energy so please make that an option!
Micro transactions
MaggieMissile15 on 5/22/2018
Hating on the micro transactions. I would love to be able to just play the game and enjoy the storyline but sometimes I can’t even get through a lesson without having to wait 30 min-half an hour or be forced to spend money. On top of that things time out! Just make the game a few bucks to buy and let me play. Leave micro transactions for clothes or extra stupid stuff.
Thoughts
xodarkestxo on 5/22/2018
I was expecting something a bit different. This game is fun for what they’ve done, but I was hoping for a game that didn’t have to wait to play and would have more to do. I mean I feel like it takes forever to do anything in the game and its not very challenging. I guess I was hoping for more of a thrilling game like the ones the did for ps1. I was really excited to make my own character too but they didn’t have many options and too many things cost real money. Also was sad they decided to give my character a family back story and brother. I like being able to make more of my own choices.
Energy level
sras06 on 5/22/2018
Would give 5. Although waiting for energy is a bit annoying. Just happy to continue on with more Harry Potter in my life!
Nice to play when have the time.
Creator of fear on 5/22/2018
This game is not what imagine at first but it has many positives and few negatives but a good game non the least.
Fun game, but super slow loading and often crashes
appz4ever on 5/22/2018
I think the graphics and the ideas of the game is very well done. I love that there is a plot to the game so it actually keeps me going and wanting to play. My biggest issue is the extremely long wait times in order for my energy to fill up. If anything would make me quit this game, it would be the waiting time. On a iPhone 6, I also notice that there’s quite a bit of glitching. Sometimes the wand movement guides don’t show up. The loading times (the screen with the Hogwarts logo) takes forever and I find that the app often crashes. Well made game, but still needs a lot of improvements. I will keep playing simply because I’m a HP fanatic.
Terrible
Mario3024COLA on 5/22/2018
How can you call this a game! There is absolutely no gameplay at all. This game is basically just tapping the screen for 30 seconds and then having to wait 2 hours to tap the screen again. This actually may be one of the worst games ever. It’s says choose your path in the captions, yet you don’t choose anything at all. Unless you want to spend a bunch of money, you’ll have to wait hours and hours for nothing. Absolutely disgraceful to Harry Potter!
Amazing but needs lot of improvements
Blakethehero67 on 5/22/2018
The game is really amazing and all but here’s the thing. We wanted like a sandbox type game type deal. We want to be able to walk around in hogwarts and learn magic as if as we feel like that we were actually doing actually magic. We don’t really want no tapping game and then run out of energies real quick and having to pay for them or waiting for them. If Fortnite, Pubg or Minecraft can be amazing game with better gameplay and graphics, then this game can be like that. Kinda like how the game Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix on the Wii. But yeah that’s what we really wanted. Also we need people to actually speak instead “Haha!” or “grr”. We actually need people talk in this game. Sorry for the negative review but other than that, the game actually has a good story to it.
Awesome
Ezeren on 5/22/2018
I noticed that a lot of people are calling this game a money grab because they are using an energy system and you have to wait 4 minutes for one point of energy. Well one of my favorite games uses energy and stamina systems. The stamina cap is 8 and you get one point every 20 minutes or so. The energy cap is based on your level at level 205 I have 216 energy. And it’s 5 minutes per energy point in that game. In case your wondering what game I’m talking about it’s HODA ( heroes of dragon age) If you want to tweak your characters appearance some of the options cost coins and some of them cost gems, but I haven’t felt the need to go beyond the basic appearance. And if you want to play continuously you will have to buy gems to get the energy. You have to make the decision whether or not to buy the gems. So it’s only a money grab if you let it be. I’am almost finished with year 2 and I can’t wait to start year3 this is an awesome game and I can’t stop playing it I just saw a review that said that they hated the energy system how else would a game like this handle missions you have to have some sort of system in place to handle it. I don’t think I have ever played a game where I didn’t have to wait for energy to replenish. If there was limitations on energy and you could play continuously you would finish the game so fast it would take all the fun out of it

Want to comete a quest, learn a spell, or advance through the years of education at Hogwarts? Be prepared to pay through the nose for it. The wait time to recharge on tasks require you to be able to drop everything in your to complete in time, or start over. Heaven forbid you work, have a child, or actually dare to sleep!! It’s fun to play, and a good adventure into the familiar walls of Hogwarts but they microtransaction you to death! Buyer be warned.
Micro-Transaction Hell
Nick1Love on 5/22/2018
Nothing feels more “magical” than having to wait 4 minutes to tap something, over and over again. If they had just charged $15-20 up front for the game and allowed you to play through unhindered I’d be stoked on it, but I refuse to give them a penny to encourage this micro-transaction BS. Great game ruined by greed and/or stupidity.
Love Harry Potter.
Jed313 on 5/22/2018
The game is great! It’s like reading a new book. Love the references and questions from the book. Let be the characters. However, it does get frustrating. It’s not very challenging. It is very repetitive and the energy is used up way too easy. It requires you to use all of your energy to get 2 stars in a 5 star project. By the time I remember to go back to finish a lesson my time has expired. The energy should refill faster. It should t use 4energy bolts to talk to Rowen. Also it is way too expensive.
Nope
pattyoKA on 5/22/2018
I tried to like this game. Really I did. I love Harry Potter and anxiously awaited this release. But then it’s just a tap-tap game?? Dumb. I stuck with it even though it was quite a dull premise because it was Harry Potter. I didn’t have a problem with waiting for my energy to be refilled, but I did not like that you had to get your classes done in three hours or you fail. I had to plan if I could get back to the app in time?? Blah. But the straw that broke the camels back was when I didn’t have enough hearts to say yes to lunch with Hagrid. What kind of monster app writer makes it so you have to disappoint Hagrid?! Not a Potter loving one. It’s deleted. Sorry.
Waiting for EVERYTHING
SHUWhale JY on 5/22/2018
Waiting for energy, waiting for main mission, waiting for side quests. When you want to learn skills, you need to have a class two times even three times. It’ll took you almost whole day and keep waiting for the energy. Played it 2 MINUTES and wait for 2 HOURS. What a wonderful game.
Hogwarts Mystery
kate0321 on 5/22/2018
This game is fantastic. The details and story line of the game are put together so well it makes your hogwarts experience feel so real! I am so addicted to playing!!!
Fun but needs some features
Killerbee126 on 5/22/2018
The game is fun but the energy bar system is a bit screwy. I understand that a free to play game has to make money somehow but throttling progress behind a paywall is ridiculous when action scenes and school lessons are timed. You end up being forced to pay to continue is almost enough to make me want to quit. Conversations that need a skill check to pass with a good result are a bit insulting if you don’t have a high enough level to pass there really should be an option to back out to gain the needed level in said skill.
SERIOUS ERRORS!!!
Alice Emily Hawthorn on 5/22/2018
-There should be two gargoyles in front of Dumbledore's office, and they should talk about candies when you tap them for energy -"The Fat Lady" MUST APPEAR IN FRONT OF GRYFFINDOR COMMON ROOM. I must have it so. -it should take like three energy to get up the stairs in divination -it is disgusting how slow the game moves, and you're making it expensive to progress so that you don't have to write and animate as much story. I think that's cheap. -stop giving me energy for picking on a house elf -the Fat Friar should be featured in the great hall with the Bloody Baron -thank you for including peeves, i like to pick on peeves -more interactive games to play while waiting for stamina would be a great addition. -also the weighing scales animation looks like they literally throw it down -other than that thank you, I love it.
Developers like this are killing the gaming industry
Wistian001 on 5/22/2018
24 energy (enough only for 1-2 tasks/missions), riddled with stuff that costs thousands of coins or hundreds of diamonds. Diamonds, coins, and energy all cost money to buy. So you only get to play for about 2 minutes before you run out of energy. Then, you have to wait an hour and a half to play again because energy recharges at a rate of 1 every 4 minutes. This “game” isn’t worth your time, and certainly not your money.
All about wait
ID: 35946890 on 5/22/2018
You have to wait for energy to be restored as well as missions to be unlocked. And always the same operation when having classes. That would be bothering.
Cool but gems are stupid
Toe Beans on 5/22/2018
Freaking gems.
I can’t restart
Fox_Person on 5/22/2018
I need to restart but I need to download Facebook to do so, please make an easier way to restart if you do so I feel I would enjoy the game a lot more!!!
I hating giving this such a low review but I have to.
wyldcosmia on 5/22/2018
I was REALLY looking forward to this game. The idea of playing out your own story is so fun but it’s a pay to win game. There are no real obstacles or choices, you literally just use energy to get to the next part of the story and you have to wait for hours to have enough to finish simple tasks. You either find yourself only spending 2 minute at a time (if that) in the app or you pay to continue. I so badly want to love this game, but its predatory micro-transactions ruin the experience. I’ll have to google what happens at the end when someone with disposable income finishes it because I don’t have the time or energy (lol) to finish it.
Great but,
eugeneivory on 5/22/2018
Occasionally will delete progress while time is going bye -also I keep having sidequest icons pop up but I’m unable to interact with them
It’s about time!
Cathiepunkin on 5/22/2018
I’ve been so excited for this to come out and it doesn’t disappoint. I’m not sure if the leaderboard is actual people or they just put it there, but I would hope that it makes up your friends on Facebook or is global. I don’t like that you can pick your own house. I wish you could either connect to your Pottermore account or have to retake the quiz to get your house😊. I finally feel like I’ve gone to school at Hogwarts. Been playing since day 1. Have promised to not spend any more money. It IS POSSIBLE to finish levels without spending a dime. What’s up with the robe purchases. Why isn’t the leaderboard global!?
Eh?
lillaaaaaay on 5/22/2018
I’m somewhat enjoying it, but it doesn’t seem like the chance of being a slytherin was taken into account when writing Professor Snape’s interactions with my character. It doesn’t really make sense for Snape to show so much hatred for one of his Slytherins or even take points away from a Slytherin. It’s just confusing.
Eh
Fhin2345 on 5/22/2018
I got bored of this game quick. Especially after constantly waiting around In order to regain energy ( something I’m definitely not paying for) Niantic is going to crush you when they release the Augmented reality Harry Potter. Maybe fix the problem that has been emphasized by users and ignored by developers
Despite the complaints...
OJ_Makes_Your_Day on 5/22/2018
Despite the complaints about the game, I really enjoy it! The energy thing is annoying, but I have found the story entertaining. Everything seems canon, and being a student at Hogwarts has been a dream. I only suggest they offer more hairstyles, and I hope they will allow the characters to grow up as we progress.
Entertaining and generally great! But...
thisisntmeganxx on 5/22/2018
There are occasional glitches. Usually not a big deal; all games have them. Except I’ve been stuck on the same transition screen looking at Madam Hooch for one of the flying classes and I can’t make progress within the actual class. 😂 Even refreshing the whole app doesn’t help. Thank god she’s in such high quality or I’d be extra irritated.
Gameplay = challenge to patience or pocketbook to progress through interactive story.
p96 on 5/22/2018
There are practically no game-play elements presented, you mostly wait or pay to tap through the story, with a few decisions in how you answer / respond. I suspect there is no failure scenario. The settings perform well and look great on an older phone, and the nicely executed writing and story are the only reason to “play”.
Number one game for Potter pupils!
MrRaindance on 5/22/2018
I love this game so much! You know that feeling when you have to poop and it feels kind of good, so you just hold it in. That’s what this game does to me.
Highly recommend
jswuthy on 5/22/2018
If you love Harry Potter and the magical world of Hogwarts you’ll love this game! So fun! Really well put together
Cool but repetitive
MadamCheri on 5/22/2018
I was very excited initially to play this game. Ive been at it for almost a month now and Im growing very bored. You do the same movements spells in certain classes, and your energy will drain for you character before class is finished. The story takes forever to move on and gets too repetitive. Im about to take this app off, im officially bored.

Love the game but wish you could add the House names in ur name like Slytherin
Pretty good - not great
Shayekelly on 5/22/2018
I love all things harry potter. This game is good. I like that they tie in a lot of knowledge from the books but i say its not great because you half to buy gems an awful lot to progress in the game. I am a little upset that I have to spend 200 gems to buy glasses or hair style so my avatar can look like me. I even have to use gems to talk to my friends if I don’t want on wait 8 hours to come progress in the game. I get the in-app purchase structure of app games but its a bit excessive to be honest.
Grrr!
WizardRascal on 5/22/2018
I’m enjoying myself playing this game, but I must confess my disappointment. I was hoping to have more control over how I explored Hogwarts, the “energy system” is a sorry excuse for a joke, and what the HELL is with making it so that I have to be a certain level in experience with either courage, empathy or intelligence in order to unlock or have an option in a CONVERSATION but if I don’t have a high enough level I can’t choose it so I have to choose the option I DON’T want and I CANT EVEN GO BACK TO GAIN THE EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO SAY WHAT I WANT WITH CERTAIN CHARACTERS WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE DO YOU WANT US TO HUNT YOU DOWN AND CURSE YOU INTO OBLIVION ITS BAD ENOUGH I HAVE TO SPEND ALL MY HARD EARNED MONEY OR WAIT ALL DAY JUST TO PLAY THIS YOU CAN’T EVEN LET ME HAVE CONVERSATION OPTIONS?!? BAD FORM, CREATORS! VERY BAD!!!
Not at all what I expected...
RSouthard95 on 5/22/2018
All the game consists of is clicking and sliding. You have tasks that you do like “mix the potions” or classes like “flying” and “charms” but you don’t do anything but click the boxes and use the energy that you’re given. There isn’t even a sorting hat that chooses your house, you get to choose which - I get it, the hat takes your decision into consideration but wow. Not worth your time.
Fun but needs some tweaking
Quietlyrebelling on 5/22/2018
The energy system really needs to be looked at again and I wish there were some mini games to play that dont require energy. In the end it’s still very fun.
This Game is so addictive

TujPatton on 5/22/2018
I do not understand why the reviews are so good for this game. I mean, I do see a lot of bots leaving reviews, but there are also, I think, real people saying they enjoy this “game”. I am a Harry Potter fan. This is a bad game. All you do is tap until you run out of money, and then you spend more money. Jk Rowling should be ashamed of herself for being apart of this disgusting money-grab of a game.
I want more
JamariousW on 5/22/2018
This is fun and all but we all agree this isn’t close to what we as fans wanted! And this pay for play is just f’ed up we wanna feel like we get choices here! Of this basic same story. Please make a 2.0 quickly ! I want more to do
