Description

Google Authenticator works with 2-Step Verification for your Google Account to provide an additional layer of security when signing in.

With 2-Step Verification, signing into your account will require both your password and a verification code you can generate with this app. Once configured, you can get verification codes without the need for a network or cellular connection.

Features include:
- Automatic setup via QR code
- Support for multiple accounts
- Support for time-based and counter-based code generation

To use Google Authenticator, you need to enable 2-Step Verification on your Google Account. Visit http://www.google.com/2step to get started.

Duplicate entries
Radi Varbanov on 8/17/2018
I have been using the google Authenticator for many years without any issues. Today I added a new entry using the code scan and that created to entries showing the same name and codes. I thought I did something wrong so I deleted the entries and tried again. This time around I the entire quadrupled. It’s scary to think that the app that I use to add more security has such a silly but and makes me wonder what else might be broken. Something a lot more security breaking.... The lease fix to restore my trust in the app!
Needs to be updated!
Aliuda on 8/13/2018
Please update this app!
Trash app
fakyew on 8/9/2018
Garbage Removed the option to time synch, making the app useless. If it is even a second off from your phones time, it will never work. Blacklist the spamhole
Hard to use
xanymay on 8/9/2018
Does not give any instructions! I hate it
There is no “Settings” option
NADOWH on 8/8/2018
I’m trying to resync the apps time but due to there not being a “Settings” tab, this app is pretty useless.
Hard to transfer and can’t scan qr code
phsamuel on 7/30/2018
Not sure if it is because of iPhone 5s. The qr code scanner doesn’t work and have to input manually
Touch ID
krevbot on 7/30/2018
The app works great but 2 years with no update and no Touch ID support? Please give us this feature :-)
Don’t use this if you don’t have to
HOMM7 on 7/29/2018
Trash, no way to find menu to time sync it, keeps you locked out of everything you have.
Needs iPhone X support
KaoticKaimen on 7/20/2018
Update your app Google
Never works
TH3WHIT3GIANT on 7/19/2018
Always tells me that the code I entered is incorrect. Have to use the recovery codes 100% of the time. If I could give it 0 stars I would. Fix your app google!
Please HELPPPPPPPP!!!
holycrapthenickname!? on 7/17/2018
I switched phones and seriously it’s impossible to figure out how to move this app over. I don’t have a login I don’t have any sort of lead... please can someone help me?!?!?
Works smooth as silk with Synology nas drive
Ghhgffg233 on 7/5/2018
Hello all, I just used this app to set up multi factor authorization for a Synology nas network drive so that I can more securely access this drive. The installation was easy. The setup with the Synology drive was easy. It works great. I now have that additional security layer. Very worth it.
Needs IPhone X support
SergeyAlekseev on 7/2/2018
Too long without an update.
Needs iPhone X support
BlugoldKidOnWatersStreet on 6/29/2018
App doesn’t reach down to the bottom or top of the screen on my iPhone X. Resolution is also pretty low. Needs to be updated. I’d have expected better from google.
App reset on its own, all codes gone! DO NOT USE
Rapid-fire-idiot-swiper on 6/23/2018
I'm currently locked out of every account I used google authenticator for except gmail... go figure! I can't find any solution for my problem
Works Perfectly
I can't think ofa nickname on 6/20/2018
Most recent reviews suggest that this app is bugged, though the latest patch must have covered everything, or it’s something out of Google’s controls. As long as you read directions and don’t work ahead of yourself, using the Google Authenticator with whatever it is you are using it for is one of the easiest and safest ways to log in to almost any network or software. 5 stars because there is nothing wrong with it.
Why did I get this app?
DoogieBo on 6/18/2018
Wondering why I ever downloaded this app. If it is supposed to support new phone transfers, based on all the negative reviews, it screws the users. If you won’t fix it, at least explain in the app description what the app is and isn’t supposed to do. This is the least descriptive app listing I’ve ever seen.
Current Status Unknown
La Pirata on 6/17/2018
A recent iOS update led to my phone being temporarily reduced to an expensive brick. Thanks to iTunes no longer backing apps up, it forced me to redownload GA. Irritating, but whatever. Tap the icon. “This app is no longer available on the App Store.” If that’s the case, how am I able to leave this review? As Sterling Archer might say: eat a whole bag of ****s, Google.
Inexplicably stopped working
Eschiss1 on 6/13/2018
probably lost the Google priming key, but the program provides no clue what’s going on or where to go from here as one finds oneself at the opening screen unexpectedly for the first time in years- I’m lost, certainly.
POORLY DESIGNED APP
S.Miles on 6/13/2018
USER BEWARE! NOT USER FRIENDLY, AND CONFUSING TO SETUP!
No longer on App Store
Lilly2179 on 6/13/2018
Why do I get I Message that it’s not longer on the App Store. It’s my one of the best authenticator apps I have tried so far. Please bring to back.
The app is fundamentally great but lacks some desired features.
zjakkmd on 6/10/2018
Overall, Google Authenticator is simple to use and does what it's supposed to. There are a couple of missing features that would significantly improve the app, however. First, some form of authentication protection, e.g., a PIN or Touch ID, before the stored codes are shown. Second, dependent on the quantity of entries one has stored, it can be cumbersome to search for those that are less frequently used. The addition of a search and/or sorting function would alleviate this.
2 more features
bcXT#1443 on 6/5/2018
Does exactly what it says it does, but we need Touch ID/PIN protection, and maybe Google Drive backups so we don’t lose codes by changing phones.
Why?
Grandpa_Kermit on 6/2/2018
I had to get this again because my other phone broke beyond repair and to get started again it wants me to type my email and a key code in order to get the Authenticator to work, but I haven’t been given any sort of code at all and I can’t do anything with this, why make an authentication app that’s impossible to use?
Terrible user interface!
Dianapeluce on 5/30/2018
I am not a novice at this. Tried to enable with Mail Chimp on my iPhone. After 8! tries, I’m giving up.
Poor, there goes all my MFA codes
Abebraham on 5/30/2018
Literally just like that all of my MFA codes disappeared. I have no clue what happen. I used it daily for work and just today Google Authenticator removed all of my codes. :-( Note: if I figure what caused my bug I will update my review. God help me now.
All accounts lost
;alsdfjals;kdfj on 5/29/2018
When restoring the backup of the previous iPhone to migrate to iPhone8, app lost all accounts with no means of recovery. App is not safe. App has no support. App should not be used. I switched to Authy, multiple device support and backups!
No updates in over 2 years.
svander on 5/26/2018
Enough said.
Nightmare with multiple sites
AJ Pinto on 5/25/2018

2 Years and no Update??
1PT8T on 5/25/2018
Maybe devote a small slice of time that you spend on rolling out different chat apps and breathe some life into this severely outdated App.
No contact number
Gamegirly87 on 5/24/2018
Need help with Google Authenticator and there is no way to contact or phone support.
Deletes all saved keys when moving phones
Azurephoenix_ on 5/23/2018
I switch phones A LOT. There is NO way to backup keys so each time I reinstall I have to rekey VERY complicated 2FA keys. This takes hours and sometimes days to have the keys regenerated. Hey morons, listen to your numerous customers who are asking you to provide a way to backup the keys. Dumped for different application.
No email recovery option DO NOT USE THIS APP
suckmycock0001 on 5/18/2018
Terrible APP- DOES NOT BACK UP TO THE CLOUD, you will lose all the accounts in your Authenticator, recovery codes do not work! Google you are a bunch of lying thieves.
Not good
Javierzelaya on 5/14/2018
If you get a new phone and don’t remember your key your out of luck.
Simple but missing features
brent8999 on 5/12/2018
I use google Authenticator everyday for multiple apps. It needs a way to reorganize the list. Biggest feature missing is no Apple Watch interface.
We need a Backup option as soon as possible
Shakil Muntasir on 5/11/2018
The app is as beautiful as we expected. But we need a Backup option for the Two Factor entries. Last time I accidentally reset my phone and my TeamViewer 2 Factor was set with Google Authenticator. I couldn't recover my account as I have lost the recovery key. If and only if we had a backup/auto backup option in the authenticator app. Please try to understand our problems and bring us a good solution and let us love your apps forever. Thanks in advance.
No backup

Rubbish if you loose it or change ur phone thats it, its over
Settings
Nicole Doreen Gu on 5/6/2018
Good till you need transfer or add to another device to use because you can’t find where the settings is. I can’t find back-up codes or other info to set it up in a new/ another device. Compared with Authy, Authy is much much better.
Works well - enhancement suggestion
steve-of-indiana on 5/5/2018
I use this app for most of my accounts (except those like Yahoo & my bank that do not support true 2-factor authentication). Since I am often not near one of my computers it would be nice if I could take a screenshot of the page with the authentication code then import that from the camera roll. I trust the security of my phone a whole lot more than a computer that is not mine.

Wake up, Google...
_BOT_MONITOR on 4/29/2018
Typical of Google to forget/ditch (?) a simple but needed tool such as this or god only knows what happened. Probably “couldn’t harvest enough personal user data” was the reason...
A ok solution
imgarylai on 4/29/2018
I will give 5 stars as soon as it supports iPhone X
Terrible
Jjplaya on 4/27/2018
Stay away from this app. If you ever restore your phone, you will lose everything. Even from a backup.
New iphone
ChefAroid on 4/26/2018
Lost my recovery codes and can’t access the app, very frustrating and time consuming.
Great app, please add iPhoneX support
kissinconcert8 on 4/25/2018
Great app, but is still letter boxed on the iPhoneX would be great to use up that screen real estate since I've got a bunch of 2F codes in here now.
If I could give 0 stars I would
MarsterTV on 4/24/2018
Let me just say... WORST APP EVER! Just recently reset my phone, go back to download Authenticator and guess what - No getting your codes back! Now i can’t log onto some very important financial sites thanks to you, Google.
