Google Authenticator works with 2-Step Verification for your Google Account to provide an additional layer of security when signing in.

With 2-Step Verification, signing into your account will require both your password and a verification code you can generate with this app. Once configured, you can get verification codes without the need for a network or cellular connection.

Features include:
- Automatic setup via QR code
- Support for multiple accounts
- Support for time-based and counter-based code generation

To use Google Authenticator, you need to enable 2-Step Verification on your Google Account. Visit to get started.

Deletes all saved keys when moving phones
Azurephoenix_ on 5/23/2018
I switch phones A LOT. There is NO way to backup keys so each time I reinstall I have to rekey VERY complicated 2FA keys. This takes hours and sometimes days to have the keys regenerated. Hey morons, listen to your numerous customers who are asking you to provide a way to backup the keys. Dumped for different application.
No email recovery option DO NOT USE THIS APP
suckmycock0001 on 5/18/2018
Terrible APP- DOES NOT BACK UP TO THE CLOUD, you will lose all the accounts in your Authenticator, recovery codes do not work! Google you are a bunch of lying thieves.
Not good
Javierzelaya on 5/14/2018
If you get a new phone and don’t remember your key your out of luck.
Simple but missing features
brent8999 on 5/12/2018
I use google Authenticator everyday for multiple apps. It needs a way to reorganize the list. Biggest feature missing is no Apple Watch interface.
We need a Backup option as soon as possible
Shakil Muntasir on 5/11/2018
The app is as beautiful as we expected. But we need a Backup option for the Two Factor entries. Last time I accidentally reset my phone and my TeamViewer 2 Factor was set with Google Authenticator. I couldn't recover my account as I have lost the recovery key. If and only if we had a backup/auto backup option in the authenticator app. Please try to understand our problems and bring us a good solution and let us love your apps forever. Thanks in advance.
No backup
IbrahimAbu on 5/9/2018
Rubbish if you loose it or change ur phone thats it, its over
Nicole Doreen Gu on 5/6/2018
Good till you need transfer or add to another device to use because you can’t find where the settings is. I can’t find back-up codes or other info to set it up in a new/ another device. Compared with Authy, Authy is much much better.
Works well - enhancement suggestion
steve-of-indiana on 5/5/2018
I use this app for most of my accounts (except those like Yahoo & my bank that do not support true 2-factor authentication). Since I am often not near one of my computers it would be nice if I could take a screenshot of the page with the authentication code then import that from the camera roll. I trust the security of my phone a whole lot more than a computer that is not mine.

Wake up, Google...
_BOT_MONITOR on 4/29/2018
Typical of Google to forget/ditch (?) a simple but needed tool such as this or god only knows what happened. Probably “couldn’t harvest enough personal user data” was the reason...
A ok solution
imgarylai on 4/29/2018
I will give 5 stars as soon as it supports iPhone X
Jjplaya on 4/27/2018
Stay away from this app. If you ever restore your phone, you will lose everything. Even from a backup.
New iphone
ChefAroid on 4/26/2018
Lost my recovery codes and can’t access the app, very frustrating and time consuming.
Great app, please add iPhoneX support
kissinconcert8 on 4/25/2018
Great app, but is still letter boxed on the iPhoneX would be great to use up that screen real estate since I've got a bunch of 2F codes in here now.
If I could give 0 stars I would
MarsterTV on 4/24/2018
Let me just say... WORST APP EVER! Just recently reset my phone, go back to download Authenticator and guess what - No getting your codes back! Now i can’t log onto some very important financial sites thanks to you, Google.
1456664 on 4/24/2018
Needs support for full screen on iPhone X
Doesn’t work
Kelster711 on 4/21/2018
I kept trying the different codes that popped up, but none of them work.
No Face ID
Thesysguru on 4/21/2018
This doesn’t have face ID neither this app has been updated for iPhone x
Still not updated for iPhone X
thnkwhatyouthnk on 4/17/2018
This is the only app I have that still has black bars above and below it. Pathetic.
Loved the app! But needs an upgrade for iPhone X
Manuelo2898 on 4/16/2018
For me this app is perfect for authentication and for the security codes the two-factor authentication needs. But I have an iPhone X and the app don’t support it. Google need to upgrade the app.
Tr0gen on 4/15/2018
I suddenly need this for a game. I load it and it tells me to type a key. Where do i get the stupid key ??? Really this is moronic soon only hackers will be able to play my games Actually today is that day
It’s great!
Jessica dills on 4/13/2018
I use this app for Discord, it’s awesome! I definitely love this app.
Add iPhone X support
AshPunk on 4/9/2018
Should update the app to match iPhone X screen size, remove the software bezels.
No words
Everynameistakenidontknowwhy on 4/8/2018
The crypto exchanges said this app is safe to send codes, got a new phone and I’m not receiving any codes and is telling me that I can’t sign in . So I basically lost all my crypto DONT DOWNLOAD
Needs iPhone X / FaceID support
iSnowbir on 4/7/2018
I can’t believe this app hasn’t been updated in so many months. It’s like *gasp* Google doesn’t care about software quality or security.
Apple watch?!
NickNiti on 3/31/2018
App works great on iphone, but truly needs an apple watch app as well
__mandz on 3/30/2018
If i could give this zero stars i would
Decent but no DUO
Kromtak on 3/29/2018
DUO has taken 2-factor to the next level including Apple Watch support. If your apps support DUO, use that instead.
No support from google for last 2 years
Doomangoli on 3/27/2018
Are your iOS development team taking 2 year vacation? This app is last updated 2 years ago and there has been no support for Touch ID , Face ID etc. iOS development team @ google - wake up if you are sleeping. Winter is over and it’s time to do some work for that paycheck.
New Phone - Scan Barcode??
WastedmytimeJim on 3/24/2018
Read these reviews after spending too much time trying to use app on new phone for the first time. What barcode am I supposed to scan? Frustrated is not the word I would use ...
Tokens do not transfer
jmtejada on 3/23/2018
That’s a pretty big thing to overlook for such a massive company. If you have used this app to allow you access to other apps you will need unlink this Google Authenticator from the app BEFORE switching to a new phone to avoid losing access to it FOREVER (happened to me on Snapchat) as the token is stored locally on your phone and not on the cloud. Completely unacceptable. Use Authy instead
Scheldon202 on 3/22/2018
Baixei para tentar resolver o absurdo de não poder entrar na minha conta (usando o mesmo computador, o mesmo e-mail de recuperação ) e nada, outro lixo feito pelo Google
Does what it does
Bemidji on 3/18/2018
(Updating previous review.) reinstalled, and it now produces correct codes. Hmmm... still a serious flaw — no way to backup codes or copy them to another device unless you plan ahead to do that. I suppose there might be a way to get the code you need from the original issuer.
Apple Watch Support
TexAg76 on 3/18/2018
Please add support for this app to include the Apple Watch.
Simply doesn’t work.
secgiant on 3/16/2018
I was forced to use this by multiple video game companies to sign in, and both times I was forced to contact support to bypass the authentication.
Doesn’t work
Dffghjjkkk on 3/13/2018
I typed in the authentication code and my app says its invalid. POS...
Would be great to launch it from web browsers
ianlotinsky on 3/10/2018
When I’m logging into Google from Chrome it would be great to tap something to launch this app instead of having to got to my home screen, find the right folder, find Authenticator, etc.
Almost perfect, but flawed.
gdawg0203 on 3/8/2018
I use this for all of my 2 factor apps. While every app/ account recommends this app, this app makes it difficult if the device is reset, replaced, or the app is deleted. Since this is a Google apps I’d love to see it be at least tied into a google account so restoring lost authentications can be less of a hassle.
Just use Authy
squalamack on 3/8/2018
Authy has Touch/Face ID support, a watch app, cross-device synchronization, and a better and more updated UI. So use that instead. People who work at Google do.
Does not work
hot-wasabi on 3/3/2018
Whatever I'm trying to authenticate always says these codes at not valid. There is no help in the app to fix this.
No backup
Gryzum on 3/1/2018
Are you serious?!! This is one of the most important apps and it has no backup ?! After phone restore everything is lost.
Works at it should!
Busymomto5 on 2/25/2018
I’ve never had any issues with this app. Maybe all the complaints are from people who don’t know how to work it? It’s super easy use!
New version
Drgioram on 2/24/2018
Is There are new version since I did purchase this application
Update ASAP!!
DivaLiya on 2/22/2018
I had to sign in again after getting new phone & I can’t get past ‘Get Started’ screen! Last update 2y ago!? Ridiculous!
No back up
CorySchulz on 2/14/2018
If you switch to a new iPhone and sign into iCloud and it restores from a back up it won’t restore all of your previously save security codes. There’s no way to export them and move them over, so you’re pretty much screwed. This is a huge flaw in their app. And there should be some sort of Touch ID authentication when opening the app. What a piece of garbage. Google is slackin.
Touch ID
Shaggy4029 on 2/9/2018
Love the app but it needs to be password protected a pin code or Touch ID locked on it
iPhone X Support
The Fantastic Mr. K on 2/6/2018
Please update the app for iPhone X and also add Touch ID/Face ID
So far so good.
Vinnie fugett on 2/5/2018
Havnt had any issues.
Why does it seem that google thinks we should know everything ?
Robert Rulo on 2/5/2018
I believe I can say for the first time in a long time that I was treated like they don’t want to helpNor do they want to explain what we are doing and why we are doing it that way I can go forward with that you’re being very hard today and I don’t understand why they just won’t work with me but I’ll understand what we are doing we all don’t work for Google
Websites not showing on app after new phone
GrabbaBeer on 2/3/2018
I bought a new iPhone and the websites I had on Authenticator are no longer there. After spending a precious hour trying to log in. One of the websites I can’t even log on now because I need Authenticator to do it. This app is literally costing me money. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. What’s the point of a password if you can’t even use it?
